This mixed media project is a continuation of 'KEEPERS' project. It is about cultural identity, specifically, the figures and roles that run through Sakha tradition, memory, and everyday life. Rather than documenting folklore, I’m reinterpreting these archetypes through contemporary portraiture: finding them in present day portraits, gestures, environments and symbols.
Each image pulls from symbolic elements to evoke roles that have existed across generations. They move between past and present, carrying pieces of language, ritual, and inherited knowledge.
The project became a way of sitting with certain questions: what remains? What changes shape? How does identity hold on when everything around it shifts and changes?
